Bombardier Impairment Charge and Learjet 85 Pause

16 January 2015. Bombardier has taken US$ 1.4 billion impairment charge due to weakened of light jet market demand.

The company also pause its brand new Learjet 85 program until further notice. The write off attempt will be recorded in Q4 as a pre-tax special charge.

Another effort to its financial is cut about a thousand employees in Kansas and Mexico which become manufacturing center of Bombardier Learjet 85.

The first prototype of Learjet 85 has completed a maiden flight in April 2014, but the board management are declined to provided schedule into entry service. The company wants to review all of products and seems to make CSeries and Global 7000 and 8000 into top priority since the demand is higher.

Pierre Beaudoin, Bombardier chief executive says the weakness of the market made the difficult decision to pause Learjet 85 program at this time, we will focus our resources on two other aircraft programs.

In spite of the write off and Learjet 85 pause, the Canadian aircraft maker delivered 290 in 2014. It divided into 85 commercial aircraft, 204 business jets and two special amphibious aircraft. The company forecasts about 280 aircraft deliveries this year.
