Caribbean Airlines Announces New Boss

Caribbean Airlines Announces New Boss. Caribbean Airlines (CAL) announced earlier this week the appointment of Garvin Medera as the new executive director with immediate effect.

"It hopes to lead the transformation that Caribbean Airlines must adopt if the company is going to face the challenges of the highly competitive airline industry," said CAL in a press release.

Medera, former CEO of DIGICEL PLAY, has held a number of key leadership positions in the telecommunications company, including the chief operating officer and technical director, who manages the company's entire operating portfolio.

He is a graduate of Oxford University, the University of London and the University of the West Indies.

Caribbean Airlines Limited is the state-owned airline and the flag carrier of Trinidad and Tobago. Headquartered at Iere House in Piarco, the airline operates flights to the Caribbean, North America, Central America and South America from its base at Piarco International Airport. Currently Caribbean Airlines employs more than 1,700 people and is the largest airline in the Caribbean.
