Delta Boeing 757 Safely Landed After Yaw Malfunction

14 January 2015. Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-200 flight number 2116 safely landed after declared emergency just after takeoff at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The pilots said that he got problems on controlling aircraft and somebody in cockpit the aircraft got yaw problem.

Yaw is the right-left movement of an aircraft's controlling system. This could lead to exaggerated tail-waging and the worst case is total loss of aircraft's control.

Within a minutes, the crew declared emergency situation to all passengers but in calmly procedure. All of crew conducted emergency procedures correctly and prepare for landing.

Obviously, aircraft did circling flight for an hour above California to burn more fuel and set aircraft into maximum landing weight requirements.

Delta Boeing 757-200, flight 2116 carried 152 passengers and headed to Minneapolis.

Delta Air lines spokesperson, Lindsay McDuff said that we working to make accommodations for the passengers while the technical support team examined the aircraft. She added safety is always Delta's top priority and apologizes to all customers and passengers for the inconvenience.
