Qantas Donates First Boeing 747-400 to HARS

30 January 2015. The biggest carrier in Australia, Qantas, will donate its first Boeing 747-400's fleet to Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) in Australia.

HARS is a museum based at Illawarra Regional Airport founded to preserve of Australian Aviation History.

The first Qantas' Boeing 747-400 registered as VH-OJA and had operated since 1990 by the airlines. Rolls-Royce RB211 engines power the aircraft and recorded for longest non-stop flight from London to Sydney in over 20 hours and 9 minutes.

Previously, Qantas had donated Boeing 747-200 for the museum in Longreach, Queensland.

The HARS has the largest collection of flying and static historical aircraft in Australia. The museum was founded in 1979 by Australian aviation enthusiasts, the mission is to recover and restore to flying condition. There are civil and military aircraft displayed in the museum.
