Russian United Aircraft Receives Il-96 Tankers Project Conversion
Russian United Aircraft to produce two aerial refueling tankers for military purpose.
The tankers built based on Ilyushin Il-96 platform with some modification changes. The based model will be Il-96 400T the freighter series.
The air frame maker, VASO is only special build to Aeroflot Airlines due to special order for cargo series. Yet, this project is pulling military's interest to make the airframe for military purpose.
United Aircraft will be awarded contract for two Ilyushin Il-96-400TZs with Zvezda UPAZ-1 equipment installed on the aircraft.
The Russian military aim the aircraft to able carry about 65 tonnes weight and has at least 3,500 km of flight range.
The agreement between Russia's defence ministry and United Aircraft has signed and approved to deliver two aerial refueling tankers. But no information regarding the date of delivery.
