On October 6, the first A220 Delta took off for the first time, successfully completing a three-hour test flight in Mirabel, Canada. Delta has launched other routes in which the A220 will be deployed, including the start months.

The Detroit Road (DTW) in DFW will be operated by the A220 starting in March; with LGA in Houston, starting in April. Salt Lake City (SLC) to DFW starts in May, while Minneapolis (MSP) moves to DFW since June.

Houston (IAH) in Detroit (DTW), Minneapolis and Salt Lake City begin in July; closing with New York (JFK) in DFW, starting in August. These flights will go on sale on October 20. Delta has also launched plans for the cabin in new aircraft. The aircraft will be configured with 109 seats, consisting of 12 First Class 2-2 seats, 15 Delta Comfort + seats and 82 Economy seats 2-3.

All seats will also include IFE screens, power outlets, USB ports and 2Ku Wi-Fi built-in. The cabin will also feature the largest suspended compartments, the largest windows and the best LED environmental lighting, compared to other aircraft of similar size.

Delta also said its economy class seats would be the largest in the fleet, with a width of 18.6 inches. The airline also said that its first class IFE screens would be the widest in the fleet, but they have not announced the size of these.

Tim Maples, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said: "This aircraft is the result of years of customer experience and innovative design responses that continue to enhance the Delta flight experience.

He added: "From the high-resolution entertainment screens to the largest main cabin seats in our fleet, the A220 will provide an experience that our customers expect every time they fly. It's just a small part of Delta's huge fleet renewal plans. I can not wait to see what Delta has planned for years to come.
