Nissan UK Sunderland Resumes Production Line. The Nissan Sunderland plant has resumed vehicle production today after nearly three months, with a new Nissan Juke as the first offline car. Hundreds of hours of preparation took place to ensure the safe return of employees.

Every operation at the factory has been rigorously evaluated to ensure it is safe, with over 5,000 processes tested to ensure safety at all times. Alan Johnson, Vice President of Manufacturing for Nissan UK, said: “It is great to see cars go off-line at the factory, including the new Nissan Juke.

"It is a testament to the skill and dedication of the team here that we have been able to get back on track with a comprehensive set of safety measures." Enhanced security measures include a new separation between operators, such as screens, barriers and dividers, as well as on-site one-way systems.

Rest areas have been redesigned and rest times have been reprogrammed to take care of social distance and eliminate common points of contact. Staff will receive all the PPE required to operate safely.

As the cars will be shipped to customers across Europe, new health and safety measures have been introduced in the dealer network in accordance with government recommendations. These include guidelines on social distancing procedures, additional safety equipment, and hygiene rules.

Through its application, Nissan has fully opened more than 95% of its dealer network across Europe. Showrooms in the Baltic States, Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine are fully open. Showrooms in Portugal, Spain and the UK are almost all open and dealers in Russia are partially open.
