First Boeing 787-9 of Qantas Rolled Out

First Boeing 787-9 of Qantas Rolled Out. Qantas's first Boeing 787-9 came from the manufacturer's paint shop, resplendent in the new livery 'Silveroo' of the carrier.

The aircraft, which is registered VH-ZNA, will be delivered to the company in October. It will initially fly a series of domestic flights for crew familiarization and training before commencing regular scheduled services on the Melbourne-Los Angeles route in December.

Qantas has eight 787-9 in order, which will be configured with 236 seats in a three-class design and powered by General Electric GEnx engines.

Oneworld airline has previously said that the first four of the type will be based in Melbourne, while the remaining four will be based in Brisbane.

Qantas will use the 787-9s to launch the first non-stop services between Australia and Europe when its Melbourne-Perth-London Heathrow services start in March 2018.
