Chengdu J-10 above picture while fly pass during an air show. Reported A female pilot of China's J-10 stealth fighter plane died during an accident on Saturday.

Yu Xu, 30, was killed in a failed parachute jump when her jet crashed near Tangshan, north China's Hebei province. The accident involved two jets of the Bayi Aerobatic Team of the PLA (People Liberation Army) Air Force.

Another male pilot was injured and is being treated in a hospital, according to trusted source. The PLA Air Force expressed its condolences through its official account of Sina Weibo on Saturday night.


Yu Xu

Yu was one of the female pilots who are capable of flying J-10s. There is only a few female pilot at People Liberation Army. Yu made his last public appearance at the Zhuhai Air Hall this month.

Meanwhile, Chengdu J-10 is light weight multi-role jet fighter 100 percent made by China. It has delta and canard wing configuration. At a glance it is very similar with Dassault Rafale. Chengdu claimed they built the jet to compete with the Lockheed Martin F-16 Falcon as well as Rafale itself.

There are single seat and tandem seat variant. Also the manufacturer released different specifications for exported variant.
